Teh Talk was a free public speaking competition inspired from the inspiration-spreading presentations from “Ted Talks“. The purpose of this event was to give students the opportunity to speak out and stand up for what they believed in, in a public but welcoming environment. This time around, the tournament focused on the topics of mental health and empowerment. There were 8 participants in total, who gave heartfelt anecdotes and wholesome speeches about their areas of concern. During the intermission, some “Mee Goreng” (stir fried noodles) was served, accompanied by a cup of “Teh Tarik” (tea with condensed milk) and later on, an assortment of biscuits. Once all participants have given their presentations, the judges expressed their acknowledgements, then gave out some critiques and feedback. Finally, the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place contestants were presented with prizes and complementary gifts were offered to the judges for their participation. Overall, the event was quite successful in raising awareness and should be continued as an annual collaborative event with future MASCA and KUAC batches.
